Healthcare System

The danish healthcare system is under the state. The state/national level holds the overall mandate and supervisory role in health and elderly care. The five regions are primarily responsible for the hospitals, general practitioners (GPs), and psychiatric care. The 98 municipalities are responsible for several primary healthcare services and elderly care.

Dental services

Denmark does not offer free dental care for adults unless in exceptional cases. Children under 18 are, however, provided dental services for free.

Vaccinations

All children are included in the Danish childhood immunization program and can be vaccinated against several diseases.

It is also recommended that all girls be vaccinated against cervical cancer at 12, but the HPV vaccine may also be given later. However, after 25 years, this vaccination is available at a fee. Contact your GP if you are over 25 years and wish to receive vaccine against HPV.
